Bookshelf Styling

Bookshelf Styling

Any bookworms in the house? Or perhaps you’re more the coffee table book sort. I’m in a constant dilemma between displaying my choice of literature in full view and keeping them stashed away in boxes because after all, books aren’t the most aesthetically pleasing home accessorising pieces.

Until now.

Make styling your book shelf a fun little activity this week, and see what accents or existing accessories you have that can spruce up your otherwise dull-looking shelf.

Use Mixed Metals

Books come in various colours and sizes, and one way to minimise an eye-sore is to identify a common tone or hue. Match gold and bronze accessories with a gold shelf, or throw in mixed metals to unify the look of the space.

Create a Multi-Purpose Shelf

A shelf full of books seems a little ho-hum don't you think? You'll instantly give your space a personalised look by utilising shelf spaces with other important things like a basket tray for your house-keys or mail, or a mini urban garden with your set of little planters. Music enthusiasts can also show off your favourite records or vinyl turntable. Your #Shelfie immediately becomes more interesting showing off a hint of your personality.

Have fun with Wallpaper

If you really want an immediate conversation starter, try decorating the back of your shelf with wallpaper. It's not too big of a task to do, and it will create a beautiful contrast while adding colour to any dull shelf with a hint of pattern peeking out from behind. Guests will be asking where they can purchase that spiffy shelf!
